How to Reheat Tortilla Chips

You have eaten at a Mexican food restaurant where the tortilla chips served with the salsa are warm and fresh. Since you are lazy and don’t work, you rarely have enough money to go out to eat at Mexican restaurants. Don’t worry, you can still get those warm tortilla chips. You will just have to warm them yourself.

There is nothing like a warm tortilla chip. They feel good in your fingers. The bit of salt and oil left over on your fingers makes you want to lick them. Tortilla chips can be the most delicious things in the world if you are only in the right mood.

To reheat your tortilla chips, put them in the oven at 300 for 5 minutes. You can also cook them on the stove top with a bit of oil. You can try heating them in the microwave, but the results will not be fantastic.

Why Not Just Eat Them Cold?

Nobody knows how cold tortilla chips got the cold shoulder. They taste pretty good right out of the bag. But these chips that you want to reheat are chips that were made from scratch, where the tortillas were cut and the chips fried in hot oil. There is no way to eat the chips again unless they come reheated.

Everyone knows that salsa tastes better when served on a warm chip. Cheese dip tastes better when served on a warm chip. Guacamole tastes better served on a warm chip. The beer that you wash the chip down with tastes better if the chip was warm.

How to Warm Up Cold Tortilla Chips in the Oven

This is the safest and surest method to reheat your tortilla chips. Set the oven for 300 degrees. When the oven preheats, put the chips on a baking tray and put them in the oven. Let them cook until you notice they turn a darker yellow. This is the signal that they are done. It should take less than 5 minutes at 300 degrees for the chips to turn a golden yellow.

How to Warm Up Tortilla Chips on the Stove.

You will need to crunch up your chips for this method because they will get crunched up no matter how you do it. Add oil to a skillet and heat to 350 degrees on the stove. Put the chip pieces into the oil and fry for two minutes, turning frequently. Let the chips drain on a paper towel.  Add salt.  This will give a pile of chips that are basically useless for dipping.
