Can You Reheat Milk?

Milk is a simple but essential dairy drink that many of us use in our morning coffee or cereal. Many alternatives to dairy milk exist, but most people still keep cow’s milk in their fridge. If you use a non-dairy milk, that will not be suitable to be reheated as its composition is vastly different.

Milk can be reheated, but it’s not entirely recommended. Sometimes, reheated milk can have a grainy texture and is not so appetizing. But, if you plan on reheating milk, make sure it’s been stored in an airtight container and refrigerated.

Reheating Milk in the Microwave

If you are planning on reheating milk, the microwave is likely the first place you will want to turn. This can be done, and when done properly, you’ll be left with a silky, smooth result. Overheating milk can cause it to become gritty in texture and lose its taste. So, be sure to do it the right way to avoid this.

When using a microwave to reheat milk, this should be done on a medium power heat. Warm for very short intervals, about fifteen seconds. Stir after each interval, and continue heating it until you see steam begin to rise.
